Adwords should be no different than any other advertising campaign in that
you need to track everything and be continuously testing.
Write 4 or 5 different ads and set them to run evenly . The ad which gives you
the highest ROI (return on investment)is the one you should go with. You
should probably run this test for a week.
Track everything Google will track impressions, clicks and click through rate.
Just because an ad has a high CTR doesn't mean that it is making you
money! You can use Google's own conversion tracking codes. If you don't
know how each keyword is performing then you won't be able to optimise
your campaigns, by turning off the keywords that aren't working and investing
more in the keywords which are. Always track keyword conversion, and test
both your ads and your landing pages.
Google Analytics only tracks pages that contain the Google Analytics tracking
code.
To access your tracking code:
1. Sign in to Google Analytics.
2. If you have more than one website check to see if the correct profile or
website is selected before retrieving the tracking code. Please note that
tracking code is website specific. There will be a different code for each
website.
3. From that profile's Settings column, click Edit.

4. On the next page Click on Check Status.
5. Your tracking code can be copied and pasted from the text box in the
Instructions for adding tracking section.
Basic installation - Copy and paste the code segment into the bottom of your
pages, immediately before the </body> tag of each page.
